Robbie Williams made his live comeback at London’s Roundhouse last night, performing to a sell out crowd for his first concert for three years. Williams opened the show with his latest single Bodies after which he told the audience, “You nearly made me cry then, but then I realised it’s not The X Factor.”
The former Take That member who appeared on the popular ITV show earlier this month had his fans booing later in the concert when he revealed he was a fan of the cocky X Factor contestants John and Edward Grimes, dead ringers for Harry Enfield’s Double Take Brothers.
When Williams suggested fans should “Go for the twins” he was greeted with deafening boos from the audience, but he insisted “John and Edward all the way!”
The cheeky chappie Williams later appeared emotional as he said his song Feel was his Auntie’s favourite song, saying “I’m sure she is looking down now.” Then with a straight face said “She’s not dead, she’s just condescending!”
The concert set new records for simultaneous cinematic screenings of a live concert, showing at 250 venues in 23 countries.
