Pete Doherty has now had his head and body plastered for a sculpture of himself on a cross ready for his show at the Royal Albert Hall on July 12.
The ‘piece of art’ will apparently be carved in marble and will show the Babyshambles frontman being tortured, surrounded by newspaper articles to symbolise his crucifixion by the press.
His friend Nick Reynolds, has supposedly spent hours with Doherty preparing the cast, rather him than me!
The sculpture will also be the centrepiece for a book by Reynolds, which will be called ‘Heroes and Villians’.
According to Reynolds, he came up with the idea sometime ago, he said to the Sun “I was quite pally with Michael Hutchins and Paula Yates and their love affair - like Pete and Kate’s (Moss) - went a bit sour. The negative Press put a downward spiral on them. And when I saw the Press that Pete was getting, it made me think of them. I saw the same pattern. As if Pete was being crucified by the Press.” Why would that be I wonder!
