Eileen Grimshaw played by Sue Cleaver
Another star of the soap opera’s Sue Cleaver, who plays the part of Eileen Grimshaw in Coronation Street has been banned from the road after being found guilty of drink-driving.
The 46-year-old actress pleaded guilty to being over the drink-drive limit at her appearance in court after being stopped less than a mile from her home in Manchester on March 29.
Cleaver was stopped by police when her vehicle collided with a kerb, she was breathalysed on the spot and after a positive alcohol reading was given she was then taken to the police station for a further test which also came back as over the legal limit.
Cleaver was given a 17-month ban from driving which will be reduced to 13-months on completion of a drink-driving awareness course, and fined £1000, plus £85 in costs and £15 in victim surcharges.
This is the second cast member of the popular ITV soap to have been in court on driving charges this week after Ryan Thomas who plays the son of Eileen Grimshaw, Jason, in the show was fined on Monday for leaving his vehicle after an accident and failing to report it.
