How To Look Like Your Favourite Celebrity

Annie Payne - Tuesday 25.10.11, 19:58pm

Everywhere you turn these days you are confronted by images of perfection in the forms of our favourite celebrities. With glossy magazine spreads, dramas and documentaries as well as paparazzi snaps all giving us something to aspire to, it is no wonder many people seek to emulate their favourite celebrity style.

But how can an ordinary mortal like us ever hope to come close to celeb style? What can we do to look like our favourite celebrities? Well, the answer is there are a number of options open if you want to look like your favourite celebrity.

Follow Celebrity Fashion

If you admire someone’s style then why not opt for some of their outfits. Use candid pictures from the pages of newspapers and magazines to get a good idea of their signature style and put together a wardrobe in homage to your favourite star. If you are lucky enough to have the means then you may be able to buy the exact outfits they are pictured in, but don’t worry if money is tight since high street stores also follow celeb style offering some great pieces inspired by their outfits.

Celeb-Style Slap

Yep, make up is one of the easiest routes to celeb style, and looking like your favourite famous face is easier than you think. Whether you want to be a Beyoncé-style beauty or a gregarious Gaga-like, there are online tutorials on offer out there that will guide you through the process of creating the right look. Some celebs even offer their own make up ranges to make it even easier for you to achieve that make up match.

Fixing your Physique

If it is a certain star’s body that gets you all green eyed – then there are also ways for you to copy their curves. Consider one of the many celebrity endorsed diets or workouts on offer and put in some effort – it will all be worth it when your celebrity-slim self is unveiled. Of course, there are some physical attribute that may seem beyond your reach with simple diet and exercise stunts – which is why many women turn to plastic surgery to get their longed after pap-worthy babe body.

It is probably not a coincidence that, in terms of breast enlargement, UK consumers have increased in the years since celebs such as the pneumatic Katie Price (AKA Jordan) hit the headlines, nor that the love affair with the Botox needle was quickly transplanted from the halls of the surgeons serving the Hollywood elite to clinics and salons offering solutions to suburban style seekers.

Whatever route you decide to take to look like your favourite star, there is one essential element that you will not be able to buy – confidence. The one thing that all our most cherished celebrities have in common is their ability to appear self-assured and in control.

Maybe you don’t think you have it in you, but once you’ve got the style sussed, as they say in LA – you’ve simply got to fake it ‘til you make it.

Celebrity Fashion & Jewellery

Annie Payne - Thursday 21.07.11, 16:13pm

Celebrities are known for their love of designer clothes and expensive jewellery. R&B pop star Usher, the so-called ‘King of R&B’, is known to love his flash bling, while Lady Gaga has her own official online shop selling jewellery.

Similarly to a house or a car you can tell a lot from the kind of jewellery someone wears.  For example, take rap star Jay-Z.  When he gained his initial success he wore plenty of big gold jewellery – rope chains and big medallions in a very ‘showy’ way. It was to show how much money he had made.  But now he has established himself and his wealth has grown beyond his wildest dreams, he no longer feels the need to show his riches and instead wears more modest looking jewellery like beaded black diamond pave bracelets, understated watches and rings.  The jewellery probably costs the same, if not more but Jay-Z doesn’t have to tell anyone how much he’s worth anymore.

Whatever look, fashion and jewellery has always been a part of celebrity styles and wholesale fashion jewellery such as ear, nose and body jewellery can be bought to recreate a similar style for much lesser price than expensive designer jewellery from many high street shops and online websites.

Fashion designer shows lead the way in what is ‘in’ this year and what is frowned upon as ‘last year’s thing.’ At Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer 2011 fashion jewellery photo shoot 16 celebrities posed in various sexy outfits finished with jewellery such as bangles, bracelets, necklaces and earrings which will then become available through various shops and websites at more affordable prices.

Fashion, beauty and jewellery worn by celebrities at film premieres, award ceremonies and other events always attract a media frenzy giving coverage to the latest designer looks and styles that are then copied by others and sold at a cheaper price through wholesale jewellery stores and fashion outlets.

Jedward – Adopt an Animal Campaign

Annie Payne - Tuesday 03.05.11, 15:44pm

Jedward: ‘Buying Animals is Killing Animals'

Jedward: ‘Buying Animals is Killing Animals'

‘Buying Animals is Killing Animals’ says ‘Lipstick’ Duo

With just days to go before Jedward battle it out in Dusseldorf,Germany, for Eurovision 2011, the ‘Lipstick’ duo are featured in a new ARAN ad, encouraging their fans to adopt and NEVER buy. In the ad, Jedward are cheek-to-cheek with a rescued dog, Chilly Willy, who happens to be one of Linda Martin’s rescued dogs.

“We’re delighted to be fronting ARAN’s latest ad campaign to bring awareness to our legion of fans across Ireland and around Europe to the heartbreaking crisis of homeless and abandoned animals. It’s seriously not cool to buy an animal, be awesome, be a hero and always adopt and support the vital work of ARAN in helping to stop cruelty to animals.”

It’s no laughing matter, figures released by the Department of Environment to ARAN this week show that over 5,000 dogs continue to be euthanized in Irish pounds, again, for lack of homes. This number is a mere fraction of the overall number of animals who die on the street due to starvation, disease, and cruelty from Children and thugs looking to get a sick-kick from abusing a helpless, afraid animal. ARAN’s new ad aims to bring attention to the serious and unnoticed fact that many thousands of healthy dogs are killed in Irish pounds every year. All because of a lack of good homes and because people are buying from puppy breeders, unaware that for every dog bought, they kill the chances of survival for a homeless animal in need.

“With companies and business lining up to get Jedward to front their products and businesses, we’re delighted at ARAN that they’ve taken time out of what is now a hectic schedule to kindly front the first in a line of new celebrity adverts to encourage people to adopt and never buy.” says, ARAN’s John Carmody.

Hollyoaks’ Ricky Whittle in Anti-Bearskin Advert

Annie Payne - Tuesday 05.04.11, 09:08am

Hollyoaks' Ricky Whittle in anti bearskin PETA campaign

Hollyoaks' Ricky Whittle

Hollyoaks Hunk Ricky Whittle calls on Ministry of Defence to ‘Do the Decent Thing and Go Fake’ for The Queen’s Guards’ bearskin hats.

Although he recently made a “ghostly” reappearance on the soap opera Hollyoaks, what Ricky Whittle is trying to scare up these days is a little compassion from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the Canadian black bears who are baited, shot and killed for the Buckingham Palace Guards’ caps. That’s why Ricky Whittle, who can be seen in the new BBC1 comedy Candy Cabs, was eager to take time out of his busy schedule to shoot a brand-new PETA ad that takes direct aim at the MoD for purchasing bear pelts to make headpieces for the five guards regiments. In the ad, which was shot by ace photographer Karl Grant, Whittle is naked except for a Queen’s Guard’s jacket slung over his shoulder and a faux-fur cap under his arm. The caption reads, “Fake, for the Bears’ Sake. The naked truth: bears suffer and die for The Queen’s Guards’ caps. Support the campaign to end this cruelty”.

“I was more than happy to bare all to help the bears”, says Whittle. “I’m sure the Guards are cool guys who aren’t down with killing bears for their caps. The ways in which these amazing animals are baited and gunned down is horrific and completely unnecessary in the 21st century. After all, the amazing faux fur that PETA has sourced is lighter and breathable – so you won’t have Guards passing out on parade during the hot weather! Come on, MoD – do the decent thing and go fake, for the bears’ sake.”

PETA US captured video footage of Canadian bears as they were killed by a method called “bait and shoot”, a cruel practice in which bears are lured to barrels of food and shot at close range. Many bears are shot several times, and some escape and die slowly from blood loss, gangrene, starvation or dehydration. When mother bears are killed, orphaned cubs are left behind to starve. Typically, 70 per cent of orphaned cubs die within one year.

Ricky Whittle joins a growing list of celebrities – including Ricky Gervais, Michael Sheen, Pamela Anderson, Kate Ford, Twiggy, Joss Stone and Sir Roger Moore – who have lent high-profile support to PETA’s campaign.
